EMPLOYMENT LAW FOR EMPLOYEES
WHAT IS A GRIEVANCE? DO YOU HAVE A GRIEVANCE AT WORK?
You have every right to speak up when you have a grievance at work.
Generally, grievances are defined as matters that make you uncomfortable at work. There can be conflict with a workmate, dissatisfaction with a supervisor, or awareness that some people are not carrying out Health and Safety procedures.
Informal grievances are minor matters that can usually be resolved by the parties sitting down together and coming to a resolution. They are usually made verbally, by phone or unsolicited email.
What we can do for you
If a grievance is not resolved informally, the parties need to move on to a formal process, usually involving an employment lawyer.
Resolving grievances is important. If a matter is left unresolved it can lead to discrimination and harassment in the workplace. If this happens,
