EMPLOYMENT LAW FOR EMPLOYEES
CAN YOU CLAIM FOR UNDERPAYMENT OF WAGES?
Questions abut your pay can arise either when you are doing a job and your earnings seem short, or when you have left a position and your final settlement isn’t right.
In either case, don’t rely on your memory to query your hours or payments. Collect any documents you have in your possession, including payslips, PAYG records, diary records and your contract of employment or a letter of offer.
Then discuss the matter with your boss or ex-boss. In writing is the best way. She or he may have made a genuine mistake and be happy to fix it.
If you have ongoing trouble over payment issues, you are entitled to take a more formal course and see an employment lawyer.
What we can do for you
At John F. Morrissey & Company, we can help you by making sure you are working under the correct award, determining whether your employer has lived up to the terms of your contract, and advising you on your entitlements under Fair Work Australia.
We can also assist you in making claims for money owed and appearing at mediations and negotiations where necessary.
If you have the claim, we have the expertise to investigate it and follow it up.
